There are a few basic functions that will make navigating your TradingView stock charts much easier and effective. Let’s check them out us go over a few below.
How to create a watchlist of your favorite stocks.
- Click the bulleted box in the upper right of the screen
- Choose Create New List
- Type the ticker symbol you’d like to add inside the Add Symbol box
- Repeat
You can also quickly add our watchlists to your charts by importing these .txt files.
How to change to a different stock chart.
- Type the ticker into the box at the top left
- or, even easier, click anywhere on the screen, type the ticker symbol, and hit enter
How to easily scroll through different time periods along the X-axis.
- Place cursor over the chart
- Using 2 fingers, scroll up and down on trackpad to increase and decrease time frame
How to change between different time intervals on your stock chart, i.e. 5-minute, daily, weekly…
- Choose interval from drop down box in upper left of chart
- or, more easily, type “,” and the interval you want. i.e. “,15” for fifteen minutes, “,60” for hourly, “,d” for daily, “,w” for weekly, etc..
How to draw support and resistance lines on a stock chart.
- Choose Horizontal Ray from the menu on the left
- Click at the oldest high/low level you want to base the line off of
How to draw trendlines on your stock chart.
- Choose Ray from the menu on the left
- Connect two points along the trend
How to add the Ticker Symbol watermark to the charts.
- Click the Gear symbol near the top of the chart
- Click Appearance/Watermark
- Adjust the Watermark color/opacity
How to set an alert for a specific stock.
- Click Alt + A
- Fill in relevant information, often when price crosses a certain level
- Click Create
